Get to know Babita

Babita Craig has an MA in Hindi and trained at India's oldest language institution - Landour Language School, Mussoorie - where she spent 9 years teaching Hindi.

In 2019, Babita relocated to the UK, where she established Babita's School of Hindi. She teaches clients online from across the globe, who come to learn Hindi from a range of backgrounds including academia, the diplomatic service, and those with Hindi-speaking family or friends.

"Babita Craig has been my Hindi language teacher for over two years, and I can say without hesitation that I have learned more than I ever thought possible. A friend who teaches Hindi described what Babita has achieved with me during this relatively short time as little short of a 'miracle'. I still have a long way to go, but that's on me, not her! Babita has a natural ability to break down complex concepts and explain them in a way that is both easy to understand and profoundly empowering. She is an enthusiastic and passionate educator, with such a lovely manner that I've encouraged our younger Indophile teenager to take classes with her too. What's more, Babita has a deep understanding of this beautiful, sedimented and playful language, which she conveys to her students with gusto. Babita is also patient and encouraging, providing an oasis of absorption and learning in an unsettling world. If you can work with her as your Hindi language teacher, then welcome to this exclusive and fun club! Her students are very lucky to have her."
